Janitorial ServicesThe Service Contract Division operates 23 different contracts providing janitorial services to 70 buildings, food services at two U.S. Coast Guard bases, cleaning the entire fleet of over 1,100 Miami-Dade County Transit buses and grounds-keeping at the Key West Naval Station. Some of these contracts include four federal buildings, sixteen Miami-Dade County buildings, Florida International University, and The Miami Herald. The work generated by this division provides Goodwill the opportunity to assist individuals who would otherwise be excluded from jobs in the community. Service contracts provide an environment to assess the capabilities of an individual, enable a personalized rehabilitation plan to be implemented and provide a structured work environment with individualized instruction and supervision. The result is a job well done, while continuing the development towards personal career goals. The diversity of work affords opportunities for people with a variety of disabilities.

Many of these contracts are the result of federal and state laws which are designed to foster partnerships between government and organizations serving people with disabilities to expand work experiences, training and support services to help individuals overcome barriers to independence. Since most of these contracts pay the new living wage established by Miami-Dade County, the participants are able to earn a good salary while learning and growing.
