Donor Recognition

Friends with goodwill enable Goodwill South Florida to be the leader in training and job placement for people with disabilities and other barriers. Goodwill South Florida would like to thank it’s donors for their generosity and continued support. 

All Donors will be recognized in our annual report the following year. Donations of $5,000+ will receive special recognition on for one year beginning January 1. 

Donor Privacy

Goodwill Industries of South Florida trusts and respects the dignity and privacy of every person. 
Our Donor Privacy Policy ensures that the privacy of our donors is respected, both to online and offline donors. 

What information we collect:

Goodwill collects and uses various pieces of personal information from donors. This includes amounts donated, address, telephone number, and email address. Tax laws require us to keep donor information and contribution levels on file. 

How we use donor information:

Confidentiality of donor information is safeguarded and donor information is never sold, traded or released to any other organization. Goodwill will not distribute donor information for any monetary or non-monetary benefit. We will on occasion share, trade, exchange, sell, rent, or lease any donor information; this includes names, email or physical mail addresses, or telephone numbers of our donors, nor will we send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations. This policy applies to online and offline contributions.  Goodwill will use donor information for the following purposes only:

  • Distribution of receipts for donations
  • Acknowledgement and Thank You correspondence
  • To inform donors about upcoming fundraising events and other activities
  • Publication in Goodwill’s Annual Report or other appropriate publications
  • To inform donors about additional opportunities to support Goodwill
  • Internal analysis and record keeping

Donors have the option to have their names publicly associated with their donation unless they explicitly ask to remain anonymous. Any donor may request to be removed from our e-mail or postal contact list by contacting us at [email protected]

Access to Donor Information:

Access to donor contact and financial information is strictly limited to staff or volunteers who need to process the data. Donor information is not shared with any person, organization, or group who does not need the information.

Online Donations:
Goodwill Industries of South Florida uses the highest security to ensure that your credit card information and records remain confidential. To guard against fraud, your information is digitally encrypted and automatically passed directly to the individuals responsible for processing your gift. Goodwill does not store, nor does it have access to, your credit card information, bank account numbers, or other account data as a result of any online gift. 

Donor Bill of Rights

Goodwill of South Florida subscribes to the Donor Bill of Rights and has adopted these rights as listed below:

Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the not-for-profit organizations and causes they are asked to support, we declare that all donors have these rights:


  1. To be informed of the organization’s mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
  2. To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
  3. To have access to the organization’s most recent financial statements.
  4. To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
  5. To receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition.
  6. To be assured that information about their donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
  7. To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
  8. To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.
  9. To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists than an organization may intend to share.
  10. To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive        prompt, truthful and forthright answers.
